Good Afternoon PSS Families!
As a special event before the Thanksgiving holiday, Dave Smith from the nonprofit organization Cognia Reads came to visit the students of PSS today. His presentation focuses on the magic of reading. Mr. Smith is a former baseball player and has worked for the Boston Red Sox. Because of his passion for baseball, Mr. Smith read the story "Zachary's Ball" by Matt Tavares to all PSS students. The PSS Community thanks Mr. Smith for spending some of his time with us today!
This is a message from the Superintendent's Office . All students who get on the bus at Bow Street will need to get on their bus at either Central Street or Glen Street today. Thank you.

Just a reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow (11/9/23) due to the teacher workshop/parent-teacher conference day. Also, there is no school on Friday (11/10/23) in observance of Veteran's Day.
Franklin High School students visited our school today to conduct a puppet show for PSS students! The FHS students did a fantastic job and we very much appreciate their time. The topic of the puppet show was "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".
The next meeting of the PTO for the Paul Smith School will take place on November 8 at 3:30PM. The meeting will take place in the PSS library.
PSS starts the morning with a ukulele concert!
We had a blast at the PSS Halloween Parade
On Monday Oct. 16, PSS students presented at the Franklin School District Board meeting. Students shared that they had learned the science of making flour and baking bread. The cookbook that they had written to record the recipes they learned was proudly displayed. Lastly, the members of the Board benefited from the hard work of the students by sampling homemade rolls and cookies!
Mrs. Miller's class spent Thursday cutting up vegetables for todays Stone Soup event!
Looks like everybody enjoyed their delicious soup!
A huge thank you to the Franklin Fire Department for coming and talking to the 3rd grade about fire prevention and safety!
Dots, Colors and Lines Oh My! The students have enjoyed kicking off the school year learning all about the elements of art! We began the year with a schoolwide collaborative art project based on the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. Students in second and third grade practiced their lines with playday before beginning their rainbow line projects with paint! Our Kindergarten friends created some ROYGBIV smiles to showcase what they learned about rainbow order! We can't wait to use these skills in our future artwork!
Franklin Fall Fest location has been changed to Bessie Rowell Community Center
Today Mrs. Gregg's 3rd grade class did a Mystery Science Lesson to find out why our skeletons have so many bones.
Bus # 805 is running late leaving Paul Smith Elementary School this morning.
The PSS Halloween Costume parade will take place Friday October 27 at 1:00pm. More specific information about parade details was emailed to parents and guardians earlier today.
Kindergarten has been exploring Apples this week! We have talked about what we want to know and taste tested. Today we worked on weighing apples and creating paintings, signs, and money to open our very own Apple Orchards next week!
Today is National Do Something Nice Day so Mrs. Gregg's class talked about how it's important to do nice things for people. Not only does it make the person feel good but it also helps us to be happier and healthier.
It is also Mrs. Weaver's birthday so we made and delivered birthday cards to her.
A tremendous thank you to the PTO for working to secure a donation of 50 yards of mulch for the playground. The PTO members and other volunteers spent some time on Tuesday spreading the mulch!
