Good Evening – This is a message from the Superintendents Office at S.A.U. 18. There will be no school in Franklin Tomorrow. District and School Offices will also be closed. Again no school tomorrow for the Franklin School District.

Good Evening Franklin Families,
I am reaching out to answer some questions I have received regarding the written threats in the middle school girl's bathrooms.
.
In regard to what we have been doing , we have initiated student sign in and sign out procedures to log all student usage of bathrooms in each wing. Additionally we have been conducting "random and frequent" sweeps of the bathrooms to check for any threats. Bathrooms will be closed during "passing time" between classes to prevent groups of students from using the bathrooms until further notice.
Using these procedures we were able to intervene quickly with a written threat at the beginning of the day this morning without having any further disruption to the school. Please know that any student(s) complicit in these threats will be severely disciplined.
I would like to thank the parents who reached out to me over the last several days to share their concerns and their proposed solutions. I appreciate the support.
Sincerely,
Dan LeGallo

Dear Franklin Families,
I am reaching out to inform you that we had another written threat in a girl’s bathroom this morning at the Franklin Middle School. The school was put into a “secure campus” for about 30 minutes while the police investigated. The school was given the all clear by the police at approximately 11:00.
We continue to investigate these incidents with the full cooperation of the Franklin Police Department.
Sincerely,
Dan LeGallo

Reported Covid for Week ending 12/9
PSS -1 staff & 1 student ; 2 total. FMS-5 students; FHS -0. Grand total 7

Good Afternoon Franklin Families,
This morning I was notified by the Franklin Police Department that they had received a threat that there was an active shooter in the high school. The police arrived at the school and directed us to evacuate the school so they could secure the building. Also, the middle school and the elementary school were directed by the police to go into a precautionary lockdown.
The high school students were evacuated and released for the day. We have been made aware that this external threat has occurred at 10 or more schools across the state today and is believed to be a hoax.
I want to commend our students, staff, parents, and police department for their swift actions and response to this incident this morning.
All school activities are on as planned this afternoon and evening including basketball practices and the SALT spaghetti dinner at the middle school from 4-7.
Sincerely,
Dan LeGallo

Good Morning Franklin Families,
We have had a threat made at the Franklin High School which has necessitated us to evacuate the building and release students for the day. Students who drive their own vehicle or walk will be released. Students who ride the bus will be released as soon as the buses arrive. At this point, police are on site and this is only a threat. There has been no incident.
Sincerely,
Dan Legallo
Superintendent
SAU 18

Good Afternoon Franklin Families,
I am reaching out to let you know that at approximately 1:30 today I placed the elementary school in a "secure campus" due to heavy police activity at the bottom of Daniel Webster Drive. Secure campus means all students and staff remain inside the building and continue on with their normal learning routine.
The police incident disrupted our normal dismissal because of road closures but we were able to reroute buses to bring students home safely. Thank you for your patience with the delay.
I would like to commend the staff and students for their excellent response to this situation and keeping the students safe and learning. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Dan LeGallo

Good Evening Franklin Middle School Families,
I am reaching out to inform you that we had a written threat on the wall in the girl's bathroom at the middle school toward the end of the day today. The Franklin Police Department was called in and deemed the threat to be "not credible."
We are investigating the incident with the assistance of the Franklin Police Department. Please assist us by reminding your children/students if they see something or hear something that isn't safe to let a trusted adult know right away. It takes all of us to keep our schools safe for learning.
Sincerely,
Dan LeGallo
