Dear Franklin Families, I have received updated mask guidance from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regarding outdoor mask usage. I have included a link below to their latest guidance document. Please refier to this website for details. https://www.dhhs.nh.gov/dphs/cdcs/covid19/documents/school-call-presentation-060221.pdf The guidance recommends that masks no longer need to be worn outside in the school setting regardless of a student or staff member's vaccination status (slide 11 of the guidance document below.) The guidance does suggest we continue to social distance outside to the extent possible. Effective at the end of the day today, per the DHHS guidance, we will no longer require staff or students to wear masks while in an outdoor school setting. This includes recess, athletics, after school outdoor events such as the prom this Saturday night, outdoor graduations, parades etc... Our mask policies remain unchanged in the indoor setting. Masks will still be worn by all indoors when 6 ft. distancing cannot be maintained. Please let me know if you have any questions. Sincerely, Dan LeGallo SAU 18 Superintendent

Good morning! With June events and summer coming up, it is a good time to pause and remember that as we celebrate our young people, their accomplishments, and rites of passage, our first priority is to keep them safe. Most underage drinkers get their alcohol from adults. In 2004 the NH Legislature passed a law (RSA 644:18) to hold “hosts” of parties responsible for the actions of underage participants. This law can be applied to any adult. The attached flyer from the Franklin Mayor's Drug Task Force provides more information about adults' responsibilities when it comes to limiting access to alcohol and other substances. If you are concerned about substance use or abuse in your child, you can reach out to Jamie Bryant at jbryant@gm.sau18.org at any time. Mr. Bryant provides supportive counseling, referrals, and resources to students who are struggling or at risk. For more information about preventing underage drinking or getting involved in the task force, go to https://www.franklinnh.org/mayors-drug-task-force -- Barbara Slayton, LICSW (she, her, hers) Coordinator of School Wellness SAU 18 119 Central St. Franklin, NH 03235 (603) 934-3108 x 4415

Good Afternoon Franklin Families, As you are aware, the Class Day Parade was canceled this year due to the pandemic. The primary concern, confirmed after consultation with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), was the need to fill our buses to transport our elementary and middle school students to the high school and back for the parade. I am pleased to let you know that at the School Board meeting last night, the Board approved 3 parades, one at each school, to celebrate our student's achievements this school year. This has been approved by DHHS as well as by the Franklin Fire Chief and Police Chief. The middle school parade will be on Thursday, June 10th at 12:00. The parade route will be from the school, down Sanborn Street to Bessie Rowell Community Center and back up to the school. The elementary school parade will be on Monday, June 14th at 1:00 on the school grounds. The high school parade will be on Wednesday, June 16th at 12:30. The parade route will be the traditional Class Day parade route from the high school down Central Street to Greviors Furniture and back to the school. I welcome you all to come out and celebrate the 20/21 school year with our students and staff at these events. Sincerely, Dan LeGallo SAU 18 Superintendent

Good Morning FMS Families Testing for "Selected Fully Remote Students" will begin tomorrow, Wednesday May 19. Grades 4-6 will test from 8-10 and Grades 7-8 will test from 10-12. Attendance will be taken as usual for all grades at 7:30 and Grades 4-6 will be sent to a Zoom hosted be me at 10. Zoom invitations will be send directly from me to students. The same goes for grades 7-8 for class at 7:30, 8:25 and 9:20 and they will be sent to my Zoom at 10. When not testing they will be in regularly scheduled classes. Weds 5/19: Reading Thurs 5/20: Writing Tues 5/25: Math Wed 5/26: Science 5 and 8 Most "fully remote" students will be testing at that time and I will be emailing them directly before the end of the day. The reason I say "most" is the roster was submitted last Thursday and it changes daily. Important: "Temporarily remote" students will be tested when they return. The in-person testing window is open until June 11! If you have questions please contact me at the school. The students practiced this in the spring so they should do fine! Thanks Mr. D
