Final Cast Member Arrives from California!!

This week, the final cast member of Little Shop of Horrors arrived on a Fed Ex truck from California!!!  Audrey 2 has finally made it across the country to join the cast and crew from FHS in their fall  musical which opens November 17.  Audrey 2 is being rented from a company called Matthew McAvene Creations which specializes in puppetry and special theatrical props for live theater and television.  The owner, Matthew, is a master artisan creating a range of works in mixed media, paint and kinetic sculpture.  McAvene's prolific creative background has exposed him to a variety of materials and techniques, equipping him with renaissance ability to craft work as a sculptor, painter, musician, puppet builder, designer, engineer, inventor, writer, film maker and special effects artist. Currently, he applies his knowledge of materials to create distinct luxury fine art works and large kinetic sculpture and puppets for events. He's creating a Limited Edition of 10 Tiger Head Sculptures to raise $3M to support the effort of WWF and Panthera to save wild tigers & their habitat.

Audrey 2 arrived in a 550 lb crate and was assembled Wednesday night and used for the first time at rehearsal this week.  Having the puppets adds a whole new element to the production and the story!  Although many technicians and backstage crew members will help moving Audrey 2 on and off stage, the puppetry will be primarily done by Saige Granger, an FHS theater alumni from 2011 who went on to earn her BA in Technical Theater at PSU.  She will also be coaching Jacinda Tyrell, a sophomore at FHS, as well as Kaia Roper (Grade 10), and Mackenna Trudel and Alana Alers-Alers who are middle school students.  Noah Alers-Alers, who plays Seymour, will be learning how to puppet himself while he is singing and dancing in character.  Puppetry is a skilled art form and the high school also has a puppetry class who have been designing and creating various smaller puppets that will be used by the cast throughout the production under the guidance of Art Teacher Ashli Craft.

Little Shop of Horrors opens November 17 and runs through Nov. 20.  Get your tickets to see Audrey 2 live now!!
