IMP Dates

Good evening Parents, Guardians, and Students,

Please see the following important dates:

1.  No School, Friday 1/14, teacher workshop, No HUOT

2. No School, Monday 1/18, Martin Luther King Jr. Observance, No HUOT

3. Senior Cap and Gown Measurements: Wednesday 1/20 and Thursday 1/21 during advisory for hybrid students. Students will be called to the gym by advisory. All remote seniors need to report to the FHS cafeteria on Thursday 1/21 at 1:30pm. Please email Mrs. Georgevits with questions dgeorgevits@gm.sau18.org The school counseling department has sent two letters home for all seniors about what they need to graduate. One letter when out at the beginning of quarter 1 and the other went out the first week of January. 

4. Seniors, do not forget to complete your 60 hours of community service. See the school website for our community partner list. Underclassmen should be completing 15 hours a year. 

5. PSATs, Tuesday 1/26 all sophomores on campus, all other students will be working remotely, no live Zoom sessions on this day.  The HUOT bus will run for those students. Please find the attached letter which must be signed and returned if your sophomore wished to leave campus after the exam. 

6. End of quarter 2/semester 1 on Friday, 1/28. Please connect with your school counselors if needed about your schedule before the 28th. 

7. We are running two new college credit math electives for grades 10,11, and 12. These classes will be taught on our campus by a Lakes Region Community College Professor.  They will run block D, quarter 3 and 4. Machine Tool  Math will run quarter 3 and Blueprint Reading will run Quarter 4. The course descriptions are below. Please let your school counselor know if you would like to participate in this new opportunity. 

Machine Tool  Math: This focused class develops the skills of students in areas of mathematics relevant to modern manufacturing. An emphasis will be placed on practical applications as found in machining. The topics include usage of fractions and decimals, conversion between units, interpreting and using percentages, usage of tolerances, interpretation and usage of formulas and proportions, and the practical application of geometry and trigonometry in interpreting and using drawings. The usage of scientific calculators will be integrated into the course content.

Blueprint Reading: Students will learn the fundamentals of blueprint reading including  multi-view drawings and how to sketch one, threads, title blocks, ECOs, tolerance blocks,  Rectangular and Geometric Tolerance. Students need a basic knowledge in drafting/design, machine  processes and procedures.
