Flyer for School Funding & Property Taxes Meeting

School Funding & Property Taxes: SAU 18
Franklin School District
Hosted by the SAU 18 Franklin School Board & the New Hampshire School Funding Fairness Project

Wednesday, April 17th at 6pm
Franklin Middle School
200 Sanborn St. Franklin, NH 03235

Join NHSFFP & SAU 18 at Franklin Middle School on Wednesday, 4/17 at 6:00pm to learn about how New Hampshire downshifts the cost of public education funding to property taxpayers, and how this system creates huge disparities in tax bills town to town and in the quality of education students receive. This presentation covers the history of the decades long fight for equitable school funding, explains the current model & shows local examples of the inequities it creates, and brings the issue to the present by discussing the recent NH Supreme Court rulings, the legislature, and the path forward. This is an hour-long event that includes plenty of time for Q&A. By bringing together community members and elected officials, our aim is to get everyone on the same page about the importance of fixing the school funding in New Hampshire and build momentum for change. This presentation will be specific to SAU 18 and the specific problems these towns face in our School Funding Model.
