Little Mermaid!

The FMS Players- or the FMS Drama Club- has just begun this year!!  With the help and support of the new music teacher, Mr. Zach Desmairais, a brand new middle school drama program will be producing Little Mermaid Jr. this Friday and Saturday night, Feb. 17 and 18 at 7 pm both nights.  Performances are at the Historic Franklin Opera House and tickets are available online at the Opera House now!  Mr. Desmairais comes to Franklin from St. Bani and has experience in theater and performing arts.  Although many middle school students have had the chance to participate in the District Wide Productions and some high school productions, as well as FACT (Franklin Area Children's Theater) in the past, this is the VERY first full fledged middle school production in many, many years.  With the help of other staff members, including Kate Evans who had students work on sets and props in her wood shop classes, Abigail Yelle who supported in dance and other ways, Deb Gleason who helped with costuming needs, and FHS Player's alumni RJ Soboslai and Briahna LaFlamme who helped with directing and technical needs.  Robbie LaFlamme (an FHS Players alumni from 1995) who is a father to two theater kids and helps at the Opera House all the time, has also been there to support this program.  FHS Player's alumni Zoe Sylvester came back to help with lighting and teach middle school students about that aspect of production.  Other staff members and high school theater students have been helping along the way and during the performances this weekend including Olivia Sylvester who did the choreography and Julia Swett who is running sound and teaching other middle school students that art.  Middle school students have learned performance skills as well as technical theater skills and cannot wait to share them with a live audience this weekend!  Don't miss it!!!
