Franklin Awarded Federal Grant to Enhance School Safety

The 2018 STOP School Violence Act authorized the Justice Department to create a series of grant award programs under a School Violence Prevention Program. This year, the Department made 130 awards to schools, districts and other jurisdictions throughout the United States.

Franklin School District and Franklin Police Department were the only NH Recipients of the grant this year.  The $267,000 award will support a Behavior Threat Assessment Team for the district.  Funds will be used to establish, train, and support a team of school and community partners to prevent and respond to behavioral risks that impact the school.   The Behavioral Threat Assessment Team (BTAT) will use a structured decision making process (NaBita) that aligns with the NH Department of Education model, in order to leverage state resources and supports beyond the period of the grant.
